Post 2: Why did I choose my major?

During my childhood, I used to like many things related to art, such as music or painting, so I spent a lot of time drawing and learning to play some instruments. My parents (especially my mom) always said to me that I had many skills to this and they encouraged me to keep it up. I thought that I could will dedicated to something connected to this in future. However, I never had a specific dream job.

As I grew up, in my high school days, I started to think what I wanted to study at university, but nothing motivated me enough. Also, I started to put me a lot of pressure to decide an option as time goes on, and that was probably my big mistake at the time.

In 2019, I decided to enter into Baccalaureate Program at the University of Chile, because I still didn't know what I wanted to study. My experience there was terrible, it was my first time I lived away from my home and family, and it was hard to get adapted to the university. I felt really bad because I wanted to go back, but at the same time, I thought about the consequences if I made that decision, so I just kept trying. In the second semester of the same year, I took advantage of the possibility of making an internal career change, and I decided to enter architecture mainly because of my skills. My process to incorporate to the career it was difficult, but I don't regret my decision.

Post 1: Who am I?

Hello everyone! My name is Paulina, I’m from Talca and I have lived here all my life. I study architecture at the University of Chile but before entering this career, I studied in the Baccalaureate Program of the university because I had no idea what I wanted for my future, it was a very difficult process for me.

My family is composed of my parents and my two brothers, I’m the middle sister. My older brother is studying law at the University of Talca and my younger brother is in his last year of school. We all live together with our dog named Rumpy, he has been with me since I was 6 years old and now, I’m 21.

I really like listening to music and discovering new songs, I usually read about the meaning of the lyrics and concepts, as well as the production behind the composition and melodies, I find it very interesting. I play the guitar and when I was in high school, I also learned to play the drum in my music class, but I haven't played it again for many years. I’ve had strong artistic tendencies since I was a child and now, I really enjoy drawing portraits, I am fascinated by realistic techniques. Although, due to university, I don't draw often, but I always try to make time for this.

One of my goals in life is to travel around the world and learn as much as possible about others countries based on my own experience. If I have to say a country, I would like to go to Japan to visit Japanese architecture, such as temples, and learn about the culture of their ancient cities.

How safe is to give your personal information on websites such as facebook, my space and any others? What’s the limit for you?

I think social networks are very useful, but are not always a safe site due to poor security. In many cases, it hasn’t been regularized the risk that others can use your data for some unknown reasons. In my opinion, the limit of personal information that should be shared on the network is only the general information, such as studies, hobbies or interests, and never reveal private details of your life or others close to you.
